If Laura is promoted, she does gain a niche in Part 3 chapter 13, where she becomes the only magic user (Micaiah is restricted to a specific area on the map) who can get close enough to the boss of said chapter, Ike, to use magic to bypass his high defense or use the Sleep staff to make it easier for him to be defeated. However, having two healers through midgame and onwards is nevertheless useful, especially given the difficulties of Micaiah's playable chapters. ![]() Micaiah has better magic than Laura and can wield Physic immediately upon promotion, making Micaiah a better staff user than Laura with less investment. Furthermore, if a player invests in training Laura, by the time she likely promotes to tier 2 in early part 3, Micaiah can also use staves. However, her only means of gaining experience are healing and BEXP, since she cannot fight until she promotes to a Bishop to start wielding Light magic, so her rate of experience gain is among the lowest in the party, and in addition to her low bases, it is extremely difficult to raise her stats and level overall. ![]() Laura has amazing offensive growths, with 70% in magic, skill, and speed. Thus it is vital to keep her away from combat as much as possible. She has terrible base physical durability and base speed, so she often dies in one hit and cannot dodge very well she is frequently doubled as well. Her base magic is decent enough to perform her healing duties. As the only reliable healer of the Dawn Brigade, she is very useful for supporting combat units in part 1, to ensure they do not use their player phases to consume healing items to restore their HP.
