I tried this with my Roku 2 and using the Roku Media Player channel. SubJunk wrote:Actually that won't work, please try this one: Some media server software may convert files into Roku compatible formats. You must connect your Roku player via HDMI to a TV or receiver capable of decoding Dolby Digital or DTS in order to hear videos with audio tracks in those formats. Dolby Digital audio in MKV and MP4 movies is only supported via pass through.ĭTS in MKV movies is also only supported via pass through. The channel hides unsupported file types. Roku Media Player (RMP) works & provides a user interface on my TV but RMP chief deficiencies seem to be: its apparent lack of means to jump ahead/bypass tracks. Only supported file types are shown in the Roku Media Player channel. Music - AAC, MP3, WMA, FLAC (firmware 5.3 and later), WAV (firmware 5.3 and later) The following media file formats are supported: Once Media Serving is enabled the Roku Media Player should be able to access the My Cloud and stream videos media from it. was to exit the Roku Plex app, and open Roku Media Player App. The Roku Media Player channel enables you to play back personal video, music and photo files from a DLNA server on your local network or a USB drive attached to a USB equipped Roku. Just copy your media into a Share on the My Cloud and enable Media Serving on that Share within the My Cloud Dashboard. Now take the same x265 file and playback on my xbox/shieldtv/windows app all. If anyone does know how to fix this situation I'd appreciate the help.Code: Select all What media file types does the Roku Media Player channel support? It would be nice not to have to start a VM just to watch videos on my Roku TV, but it's not that much of a nuisance. VirtualBox doesn't seem to cause this problem, only VMware. If I install VMware, videos won't play if I then uninstall VMware, they play. I suspect that VMware changes something in the network configuration, but I have no clue as to what. It takes me about 30 seconds to start the Darkstar VM, and now all the videos play on the Roku TV. The workaround I'm using is to install PCLOS Darkstar in a VirtualBox VM, install only Kodi and configure with my video files. But since I need VMware for several VMs on my PCLOS KDE5 installation, I had to find a workaround. If VMware is not installed, everything works fine. I have to exit the DLNA client (ie the Roku Media Player) then launch the DLNA client again before it will show any new media content that was added while that client was prevously accessing the My Cloud. If VMware Player or Workstation is installed, the video file won't load completely and play. Use Roku Media Player to view a variety of video, music, and photo formats from a network-attached DLNA media server or USB drive installed in your Roku device. OK, I think I have found the culprit that stops video files from loading/playing on the Roku TV from the Kodi Media Server and a workaround.
